The main basis for the plastic injection mold design is the 2D/3D drawings or samples provided by customers. Designers must analyze and digest the drawings and samples in detail. Today, Hejia Technology will take you to understand the specific precautions.
Key points of plastic injection mold design
1. Mold opening direction and parting line
At the beginning of the design of each injection molded product, the mold opening direction and parting line should be determined to minimize the impact of the core pulling slider mechanism and eliminate the influence of parting lines on the appearance as much as possible.
2. Demoulding slope
Appropriate demolding slope can avoid product top damage, such as top whitening, top deformation, and top breakage.
3. Product wall thickness
All kinds of plastics have a certain range of wall thickness, generally 0.5-4mm. When the wall thickness exceeds 4mm, it will cause problems such as long cooling time and shrinkage, and the product structure should be considered to be changed.

4. Strengthen the tendons
The thickness of the reinforcing rib must be ≤ (0.5-0.7) T product wall thickness, otherwise it will cause surface shrinkage.
5. Rounded corners
Setting reasonable rounded corners can also improve the machining process of the mold, such as directly milling the mold cavity with an R-knife to avoid inefficient electrical machining.
6. Core pulling and sliding mechanism of injection mold and avoidance measures
When designing plastic molding products, if there are no special requirements, try to avoid core pulling structures as much as possible. If the axial direction of the hole and the direction of the rib are changed to the mold opening direction, methods such as using the cavity core to penetrate can be used.
Several schemes should be considered in the plastic injection mold design, and the advantages and disadvantages of each option should be compared and analyzed to choose one. For replication molds, more emphasis should be placed on further improvement based on the existing foundation. In the process of mold processing, it is necessary to communicate more with the engineering team to understand the processing process, especially the problems that arise during assembly and trial molding. Each set of molds has a process of analyzing and summarizing experience.
